I've just picked up a new car – should I get ceramic coating straight away, or wait?

The best time to coat a new car is as soon as possible, before the paint picks up swirl marks from washing or damage from bird droppings and road grime. Even brand-new cars can have minor imperfections from transport and dealer prep, so a light polish before coating locks in the best possible finish from day one. We'll check the paint under proper lighting and recommend exactly what your car needs – nothing more, nothing less. Just collected a new car or got one on order? Drop us a message with the make and model and we'll let you know the best package to protect it from the start.

Is ceramic coating actually worth the money, or is it just marketing hype?

We completely understand the scepticism – there's a lot of overblown marketing out there. A properly applied ceramic coating won't make your car bulletproof, but it will genuinely make it much easier to keep clean, give you a deeper glossy finish, and protect the paint from UV damage, bird droppings, and road contaminants for years. The key is proper preparation and professional application. We'll always be upfront about what a coating can and can't do, and we'll never oversell you something you don't need. Book a free consultation and we'll show you exactly what's involved and give you a straight answer on whether it makes sense for your car.

The inside of my car is an absolute state – kids, dogs, mud, the lot. Can you actually sort it?

From pet hair embedded deep in the carpets to sticky cup holders, sand in every crevice, and that unmistakable wet dog smell, we've tackled it all. Our interior deep cleans use professional extraction equipment and steam cleaning to get into all the places a normal hoover can't reach. We regularly hear customers say they can't believe it's the same car when we're finished. And because we're fully mobile, you don't need to drive anywhere – we come to you. Send us a photo and we'll give you an honest quote – no judgement, we've genuinely seen it all.

I'm about to sell my car – is it worth getting it detailed first?

Absolutely. First impressions are everything when someone comes to view a car, and buyers make snap judgements based on how it looks. A professional detail with paint correction can take years off a car's appearance. A clean, glossy car signals that it's been well looked after, which builds trust and can add hundreds to your selling price. It's one of the best returns on investment you'll get before listing. Get in touch and tell us your timeline – we'll recommend the right level of detail to maximise your sale price.

How long does ceramic coating actually last? I keep seeing different claims.

Real-world durability depends on how you maintain the coating and how the car is used. For a daily driver parked outside and driven on country roads, you'll realistically get strong performance for 2–3 years with proper maintenance. Garaged cars with careful washing can see much longer. We'll talk you through realistic expectations for your specific situation and show you exactly how to maintain it so you get the most out of your investment. We offer 3, 5, and 8 year ceramic coating packages with warranties to match.

Why shouldn't I just get the ceramic coating done at the dealership?

Dealership coatings are typically overpriced, applied without proper paint preparation, and often done by someone with no specialist training. Proper ceramic coating requires thorough decontamination, paint correction to remove swirl marks and imperfections, and careful application in controlled conditions. A dedicated detailer does this over several hours, sometimes a full day or more. Dealerships rarely invest that kind of time. Save the money they're quoting you and come to a specialist who'll do it properly. Been quoted by a dealer? Send us the details and we'll explain what a proper job involves and give you a fair price.

Can you actually do ceramic coating at my house, or does it need to be done indoors?

Yes, we absolutely can – and we do it to the same standard as a workshop. We come fully equipped with our own water, power, lighting, and when needed, professional gazebos to shield your vehicle from sun, wind, and rain during application. With years of experience applying coatings on-site, we've refined the process to ensure excellent results outdoors. The big advantage for you is zero hassle: your car gets transformed on your driveway while you get on with your day. No dropping off, no picking up, no disruption.

I bought a used car and it's covered in swirl marks – can you make it look new?

Swirl marks, light scratches, and that dull, tired-looking finish are caused by years of improper washing – usually automatic car washes and rough sponges. Machine polishing (paint correction) removes those imperfections layer by layer, bringing back the depth and clarity of the original paint. Adding a ceramic coating on top then locks in that finish and protects it going forward. Just bought a used car that doesn't look quite right? Send us a few photos in good light and we'll tell you exactly what we can achieve.

Do I still need to wash my car after getting ceramic coating?

Yes – ceramic coating is brilliant protection, but it's not a set-and-forget solution. What it does do is make washing dramatically easier and quicker. Dirt and road grime don't bond to the surface the way they normally would, so a gentle wash takes minutes and the car looks stunning afterwards. We'll show you exactly how to wash a coated car safely, or if you'd rather not do it yourself, we offer maintenance wash plans to keep it looking its best year-round.

How do I know I'm choosing the right detailer? There are loads out there.

Trust is everything in this industry. Look for genuine Google and Facebook reviews from real customers, manufacturer accreditations for the coating products used, proper before-and-after photos of actual work, clear communication about what's included in the price, and honest answers about what to expect. Be wary of anyone who quotes suspiciously cheap prices – a proper ceramic coating detail takes many hours of skilled work. We're always happy to walk you through our process, show you our reviews, and answer any questions before you commit.

Why Your Car Needs Ceramic Coating

Hertfordshire roads are rough on paint. Commuting on the A1(M) or M25 means daily brake dust, and road grime. Parking under trees in Welwyn Garden City or Harpenden means sap and bird mess. Tar from the A414 bonds into your lower panels and wont come off with a normal wash.

Without ceramic coating your paint will:

Fade and oxidise
Lose gloss and depth
Collect swirl marks and scratches
Become harder to clean
